Wellingborough Swimming Club Master Class

Swim Swift Elite were invited to visit Wellingborough Amateur Swimming Club during half term for a Butterfly and Freestyle technical session.

The visit started with an introduction and classroom session discussing the importance of land training and competitive swimming. A motivational presentation on racing psychology was also delivered to the swimmers, where Amy and Joe shared their own thoughts and experiences from their competitive international careers. Discussions on how to handle nerves, training and racing mindsets and keys to success followed these presentations.

Both the pool and the classroom sessions ran very smoothly. The swimmers and coaches at Wellingborough were all very keen to learn what we had to offer and the feedback has been great!

A fantastic time was had by all lots of new things learnt! I’m sure we will see them all again!

Rugby Swimming Club Visit

Rugby Swimming Club continued to take advantage of the Master Class series at the discounted rate! This time they had chosen to work on their swimmers Breaststroke. The visit ran as two, one and a half hour session, splitting the younger and older squads. Amy and Joe were also joined by Commonwealth Medallist and England Breaststroker, James Wilby. James is a Loughborough University trained swimmer who has shown huge improvements of the last 12 months. Last Summer he used his fantastic technique to compete in the final of the men’s 200 Breaststroke, as well as picking up a relay medal. Competing in arguably the most competitive event in British swimming right now, James has to use his great technique to challenge the leaders. So was perfect to demonstrate to the swimmers at Rugby.

Visit to Redditch Swimming Club

“We were fortunate enough to have Amy and Joe visit Redditch Swimming Club, to deliver two front crawl skills sessions for almost 60 of our swimmers.  They did a fantastic job explaining the technical aspects of the stroke, and our swimmers all benefited greatly from being coached by these two Olympians, and watching their superb demonstrations in the pool.  We hope to have them back again soon for a similar session on fly.” Chris Britt, Head Coach, Redditch swimming Club.

“We attended a freestyle masterclass with Amy Smith and Joe Roebuck and would highly recommend the swim clinic to any competitive swimmer who is looking to improve their stroke technique or develop their racing skills. We learnt a variety of front crawl drills which we have now incorporated within our own training plan. The session was tailored to suit our needs and we both found it extremely useful and informative. It also gave us the chance to pick up some top tips and advice from two former Olympians!” Paul Wilkes and Laura Cranshaw (Redditch Swimming Club).

Swimming Skills Workshop with Warley Wasps

Warley WASPS – 31/05/14.

‘Can Warley WASPS thank Amy and Joe for their well-executed swim workshop. The event consisted of an initial introduction which included competition preparation and nutrition. This ended with a question and answer session which involved swimmers and parents. Shortly after, everyone met on the poolside to engage in a swimming master class session. This covered technique and drills, streamlining and diving. this was a tremendous opportunity for swimmers and coaches to learn innovative ways to approach our sessions. It was a well worth event which offered something to everyone. On behalf of all the swimmers and coaching staff at Warley WASPS, may we say thank you for your time and patience. We hope to see you again soon, many thanks to Amy and Joe’. From Gareth Comerford, Assistant Coach, Warley WASPS

“To have access to our current International swimmers proved to be inspirational to our young swimmers, they learned and were able to see and experience high level performance/practices and what they personally could achieve with hard work and dedication!” From Mark Soulsby, Head Coach, Warley WASPS.
